Caroline Flack cried in the dock on Monday as she was told she could not contact her boyfriend Lewis Burton over Christmas by a judge. But the 40-year-old seemed to be in much higher spirits on Christmas Eve as she headed out for some retail therapy. The former Love Island host was pictured laughing with friends the day after she pleaded not guilty to assault at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court. Caroline was seen in East London with two friends, and seemed to be in a good mood as she smiled and laughed away while walking towards Spitalfields.

Flack clutched a festive coffee before the trio headed into Urban Outfitters, where the TV presenter checked out a book on psychology. Caroline’s upbeat appearance is miles away to what we saw 24 hours before, when she arrived in court to face a charge of common assault following a row with her boyfriend Lewis on 12 December. The former X Factor host pleaded not guilty, before the court heard that Lewis, 27, told a police operator: ‘She tried to kill me, mate.’ Caroline checked out the gift section (Picture: Backgrid) Caroline looked at a book on psychology (Picture: Backgrid) Some last minute Christmas shopping? Katie Weiss, prosecuting, said: ‘It is clear the defendant is manipulative towards him. ‘She calls him an a******e and vile and says he has ruined her life when she has ruined her own life by committing the assault.’ She also told the court that Flack was disruptive in police custody, saying: ‘Her behaviour gets worse, she flips over a table and then has to be restrained on the ground.
’ Weiss said that the scene was like a ‘horror movie’ when police arrived at Caroline’s home in Islington on the morning of 12 December. The first police officer arrived some eight minutes later. He knocked on the door and it was opened by both of them. ‘Both were covered in blood and in fact one of the police officers likened the scene to a horror movie.’ Caroline put her head in her hands as an application to remove a bail condition banning her from contacting Lewis directly or indirectly was refused by District Judge Julia Newton. It’s believed that Flack volunteered today at a Christmas lunch for the elderly in Hackney. Following her day out with her friends, Caroline posted a defiant message where she announced a break from social media, after she was ‘advised’ to. She wrote on Instagram: ‘Been advised not to go on social media … but I wanted to say happy Christmas to everyone who has been so incredibly kind to me this year.
