Liverpool have been tipped to make a move for Kylian Mbappe with Fabinho talking up his former teammate at Monaco
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho admits signing Kylian Mbappe would be a ‘headache’ for Jurgen Klopp.
PSG superstar Mbappe, 21, has been linked with a move to Anfield over recent months and recently talked up the Premier League leaders.
The Frenchman played with Fabinho at Monaco before both left the club in the summer of 2018.
Mbappe has since been a revelation at PSG but speculation continues over his next club.
Fabinho knows him well though and believes he would improve Liverpool, despite Klopp’s all-conquering front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
At this moment it would be a headache for Liverpool if we had him here because our attacking trio is very good.
“But I know Mbappe’s quality, he’s already one of the best players in the world, so he would obviously improve any team. Right now he plays for Paris Saint-Germain and we have to respect that.”
Liverpool continued their incredible season against Wolves in midweek with Fabinho appearing as a late substitute.
The Reds are yet to taste defeat this term but the Brazilian insists their focus is on silverware, not team or individual records.
“I might be too young to answer this question. But in the last few years we have definitely been one of the best teams,” he said.
“You have to respect the numbers we’re achieving at the moment, even if you don’t want to talk about them.
“Records and stats don’t make us the best, but if we carry on doing what we’re doing we will win trophies. Then we have to keep doing that season after season.”
