Prince Harry moved to Canada with wife Meghan Markle after the so-called Megxit from the royal family and the Duke of Sussex reportedly misses his friends in Britain already
Prince Harry already “misses his friends” having fled to Canada with wife Meghan – and is using a WhatsApp group more than ever, it has been claimed.
Having left the UK two weeks ago to begin a new life away from the Royal Family, the Duke of Sussex is already feeling the strain of being away from his friends who have known him most of his life.
Harry, Meghan and baby Archie are living in a rented mansion with round-the-clock protection as they look to become financially independent, with the prince announcing he had “no other option” but to step down.
An insider told the Sun: “Harry misses his friends of course – anyone would.
“But he has been in [a] WhatsApp group with his mates for years and he uses that more than ever now to keep in touch and send pictures.
“The group are always sharing funny video clips they find as well.
“Harry doesn’t think being on the other side of the world means that he will lose touch with the people he has been mates with all his life.”
Meghan had quickly returned to Vancouver – where the couple spent a six-week hiatus over Christmas – following their bombshell announcement last month.
But Harry remained in the UK until a fortnight ago, attending a crunch meeting with the Queen over his future as a royal.
The decision to leave Britain behind comes as the Sussexes look set to make millions in foreign endorsements, but it could mean less time for the prince’s old ties.
His ‘Glosse Posse’, a group of mates from Gloucestershire he grew up with at dad Prince Charles’ estate in Highgrove, have often been spotted with the royal including polo and rugby matches as he grew up.
They include Guy Pelly and Tom Inskip and wife Lara, who have apparently drifted from their royal pal in recent months.
Tom – who Harry has known since childhood – is said to have been against his friend’s marriage to Meghan but was at their wedding.
And the prince was there for Tom and Lara after the latter’s mum died last summer at just 66 in London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital after a long-term mental illness.
Nicknamed Skippy, the fellow Eton College alumni, was often seen by Harry’s side during the Duke’s single days and had arranged the trip to Las Vegas in 2012 when Harry was photographed naked with showgirls at a jacuzzi party.
Guy Pelly, who also attended the wedding at Windsor, is a close childhood friend of both Harry and William and is the godfather to the latter’s youngest son Louis.
A former nightclub manager, Guy turned Mayfair’s Mahiki into one of London’s biggest celebrity hotspots.
His mum Lady Carolyn Herbert was close friends with the late Princess Diana and he’s known as a ‘London aristocrat’ – as well as a bit of a party animal within the royal circle.
He was with Harry for the infamous Nazi costume party incident.
Harry served as Charlie van Straubenzee’s best man, with the pair having first met at Ludgrove Prep School.
Charlie has since become Head of UK Financial Intermediaries for Brown Advisor.
His older brother is property mogul Thomas van Straubenzee who is also a close friend of both Harry and William, and is Princess Charlotte’s godfather.
Thomas made a speech at William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.
It was reported last month that Harry had been gradually moving away from his old pals prior to his move with most no longer even having his mobile number anymore.
A source told the Sun: “Harry is mindful that everyone is waiting to see what he and Meghan do next and he wants this to be a really transformational year for them all as a family.
“First, he wants to make this year’s Invictus Games the best ever.
“In years gone by he has had to juggle his Royal duties with planning the Games
“But now he can just focus on the Games which he is loving. He is able to be even more hands on than usual and really wants to put his mark on the way it looks and feels.
